ACA-DUEL: ORIGINAL SONG CHALLENGE

ACA-DUEL: ORIGINAL SONG CHALLENGE

As part of AUSACA 2019, the Open Division groups were given a challenge. To create their own original song using the following elements:

  • The 2018 word of the year “Toxic”
  • The following chord: “minor9”
  • The “Millennial Whoop” (a melodic pattern alternating between the 5th and 3rd notes of a scale).
  • The iconic drum fill rhythm from “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins.

Only two groups (Band Champions Burgundy Blue and Ensemble Champions The Macabellas) got to share their original song LIVE in our Aca-Duel to determine the Open Division Overall Champion (Burgundy Blue). All the Open Division groups filmed their group performing their original song in the lead up to the AUSACA Finals. So we’re excited to be able to share with you all the new original songs created for AUSACA. Check them out below!
