Annabelle Tunley will be judging the following AUSACA events in 2017:
Annabelle Tunley has been a professional musician for her entire adult life. She is a founding member of Aluka, an original vocal trio, who have toured nationally and internationally, and are regulars on the festival circuit. They have released two albums independently and established themselves as the industry’s go-to team for backing vocals. They have sung with Clare Bowditch for the last 6 years and have toured with Lisa Mitchell and Missy Higgins. Annabelle has had her songs synced to TV in both Australia and the USA.
Annabelle is passionate about authenticity of performance. Whether an artist is performing a song they have written themselves or written by someone else, a performance should be believable, honest and portray appropriate emotion, whatever that emotion may be. To quote Marcia Hines ‘make it yours baby girl.’
Her career highlights include mentoring young women through the YOWO music program, supporting Leonard Cohan at Hanging Rock, singing with Powderfinger, playing at Splendour in the Grass, recording in a dusty bungalow with her favourite producer Nick Huggins and having a song she wrote listed on several websites as the most-annoying-song-ever-coz-it-gets-stuck-in-your-head after it aired on an ad on American TV for 3 years in the row. If this isn’t the highest form of praise that a pop songwriter can receive, she doesn’t know what is.
