PROGRESSION

Due to the growth of AUSACA each year, we have made some exciting changes to our finals. These changes mean more groups than ever will be heading to the AUSACA National Finals!

SECONDARY SCHOOL DIVISION (3-35 singers)

  • All Secondary School groups submit a video entry for the Video Finals (due by 13 June)
  • Video Finals for all groups (Finalists announced on 19 June)
  • National Finalists announced on 29 June
  • The 12 School groups (6 x Band and 6 x Ensembles) with highest scores nationally from the Video Finals will progress directly through to the AUSACA School Division National Final
  • All School groups observe School Final on Saturday 9 September in Melbourne (top 12 groups compete)

OPEN DIVISION – VOCAL BANDS (3-8 singers)

  • Video Finals for all groups
  • The Vocal Bands with highest scores nationally from the Video Finals will progress directly through to the AUSACA Open Division – Band National Final
  • The Open Div. Band Champion with duel it out with the Open Div. Ensemble Champion in an Aca-Duel to determine who will be crowned the overall champion

OPEN DIVISION – VOCAL ENSEMBLES (9+ singers)

  • Video Finals for all groups
  • The 8 Ensembles with highest scores nationally from the Video Finals will progress directly through to the AUSACA Open Division – Ensemble National Final
  • The Open Div. Ensemble Champion with duel it out with the Open Div. Band Champion in an Aca-Duel to determine who will be crowned the overall champion

ACA-DUEL

  • The Open Division Champions (Band and Ensemble) with duel it out to determine who will be crowned the overall champion
  • The Aca-Duel will take place at the end of the Open Div. Band Final on Saturday 9 September
  • Required Song: Waltzing Matilda
  • Length: 90-120 seconds
  • No mash-ups, medleys or any other combinations of songs are allowed during the Aca-Duel
  • We encourage all the groups to be creative with their version and to play to their strengths
